As a premiere vacation destination, Palm Springs is the ultimate fountain of youth, offering gourmet treats and everything neat.  It’s a wonderland designed to satisfy children of all ages (especially the grown-up variety). So let’s skip backwards in time and forward to our list of must-visit Palm Springs sweet spots.

Lappert’s Ice Cream

Formerly a delicacy popularized at Disneyland and sold almost exclusively at the Magic Kingdom, Dole Whip is a pillowy delight that amuses the palate. Its cloud-like texture dovetails with a tangy citric flourish that makes Dole Whip an exclusive treasure, but now its available right here in downtown Palm Springs thanks to Lappert’s. This bright and bubbly creamery is also known for their date shakes, made with fruit harvested locally in the Coachella Valley. So have a seat, beat the heat, and chill out – sweet!

Balboa Candy

Nostalgia is at the top of the menu at this confectionary time machine. Zots, Whirly Pops, Bit O’ Honey, Abba Zabba, and Goo Goo Clusters. Remember all of the nonsense phrases that drove your parents crazy back in the day are on full display at Balboa. And if you want to bring the retro yumminess home with you, they also sell gumball machines. Just chew it! So many Palm Springs sweets to choose.

Rocket Fizz

To keep the vintage vibes flowing, stroll down Palm Canyon to Rocket Fizz, where you can wash down your candy selections with a wild array of sodas. Bacon and Chocolate, Buffalo Wings, Radioactive Mulberry… yes, you’re still in the soda aisle. But you’re forgiven for losing your way; it’s easy to do as you gaze upon the kitschy décor lining the walls. And on the topic of being transported to a fantastical realm…

No trip to PS would be complete without a bit of hedonism, and what’s more decadent than Wild Cherry Chocolate Body Frosting? As your mischievous minds reel with the possibilities, we should pull you back from the saccharine abyss and mention all of the wholesome treats also featured in this gourmet shop. Caramel apples double dipped in white and dark chocolate, salt water taffy, and fudge by the mmmile (the extra mmm’s are not a typo). This is Palm Springs sweet living at its most delicious.
