“We’re men about town,” Brandon Hoskins says with a twinkle in his eye — and it couldn’t be more fitting. Alongside his partner, Stephen Wilson, Brandon co-owns Towne Palm Springs, a destination boutique that’s become a go-to for discerning shoppers, design aficionados, and fellow creatives from Los Angeles to Paris.
Located in a midcentury architectural gem, Towne is far more than a design store — it’s a reflection of Brandon and Steve’s journey, eclectic taste, and love for Palm Springs living.
From Los Angeles Roots to Desert Dreams
Like many great stories, this one wasn’t exactly planned. Brandon, a fifth-generation Californian and former hairstylist, met Steve, a Virginia Beach native and graphic designer, after Steve moved to California for a job with Disney. What began as a shared hobby of buying, restoring, and reselling architecturally significant homes in LA soon snowballed into a passion for interior design.
As a hobby, the pair began buying, restoring, and selling LA homes with architectural pedigrees. “This quickly morphed into being interior designers,” Brandon says. “As time went on, we ended up with a warehouse full of furniture.“ Brandon laughs. That furniture would later become the foundation for Towne.
In 2007, the couple relocated to Palm Springs — initially, they thought, just temporarily — to restore a William Krisel-designed home. But the magic of the desert, the vibrant architecture community, and a network of like-minded friends quickly drew them in for good.
A Boutique Born from Passion
With a growing inventory of carefully curated pieces and a deepening love for desert design, Brandon and Steve decided it was time to open a shop. In true mid-century fashion, they purchased a landmark 1955 building by iconic architect E. Stewart Williams and opened Towne Palm Springs in 2014.
Since day one, the shop has been a hit. “More than half our customers are repeat clients,” Brandon shares. “Interior designers especially — from LA, New York, San Francisco, San Diego, even Paris — they all come back.”
A Residential-Style Boutique with Personality
Step inside Towne, and it feels like visiting a friend with impeccable taste — warm, eclectic, and ever-evolving. “It’s like a party here all the time,” says Brandon. “People from all over the world stop by, and they end up chatting with each other. That’s the energy we love.”
Their combined backgrounds in design, restoration, and visual storytelling give the duo a distinct edge. While mid-century modern remains a cornerstone, you’ll find everything from 19th-century farmhouse tables to reimagined hitching-post iron lamps. “We mix pieces that play well together, no matter the era,” Brandon explains. “It’s about creating a space that feels collected, not contrived.”
A Lifestyle Shopping Destination
What sets Towne apart from other design boutiques is its seamless blend of style and lifestyle. It’s not just about furniture — it’s a whole vibe. Visitors can shop a curated collection of vintage barware, fine art, sculptural lighting, one-of-a-kind accessories, and even men’s resortwear straight from St. Barts and France.
“We wanted to offer something for everyone — large and small pieces, with a wide range of price points,” Brandon notes. You’ll find Towne-branded scented candles starting at $35 right alongside statement-making chests of drawers for $3,000.
Inspiration Around Every Corner
Their inspiration? “Our friends who live here — they have such incredible homes and a unique sense of style,” says Steve. They also draw influence from one of their favorite spots in London, Dover Street Market, known for constantly transforming its interior. “We do the same here. We’re always reinventing.”
That means every visit to Towne offers something new, but the welcoming vibe, sharp eye for design, and friendly banter from Brandon and Steve? That’s the constant.
Their best advice? “Always decorate with things you love — and it will all work together.”
So don’t expect Towne Palm Springs to look the same every time you visit. But do expect good conversation, impeccable taste, and professional interior design tips. “Always decorate with things you love – and it will all work together,” is their favorite piece of advice.
