Hometown pride is one of Palm Springs’ most enduring qualities—and few places champion that spirit better than Windmill City Super #1, one of the city’s most creative and locally focused gift shops. Located in the Uptown Design District along North Palm Canyon Drive, this stylish boutique blends modern desert design with authentic community roots, offering a fresh take on Palm Springs souvenirs, locally made art, and limited-edition apparel you won’t find anywhere else.
Co-owners Glen and Ashley Coy created Windmill City Super #1 to fill a gap they noticed in the local shopping scene: a place where both Palm Springs residents and curious travelers can find meaningful, design-forward keepsakes that celebrate the city’s culture. As Glen puts it, “We like to describe it as a gift shop for locals, but one that gets tourists just as excited.”

A Palm Springs Shop Rooted in Local Storytelling
Glen Coy embodies desert authenticity. A longtime resident who grew up in Palm Springs, he pairs his deep regional knowledge with Ashley’s international perspective—she moved from Vancouver, British Columbia, a decade ago. Together, they’ve built a space that reflects both global inspiration and hometown warmth.
Before opening the shop, the couple spent years traveling and observing how major cities like Los Angeles, Vancouver, Tokyo, and New York have evolved their “cool tourist shop” culture. Each visit reinforced the same thought: Palm Springs deserved its own fresh, modern version.
When a storefront became available next to Las Palmas Brewing, a craft brewery also run by close friends, the timing couldn’t have been better. The Coys jumped at the opportunity to bring their vision to life.

A Creative Hub for Palm Springs Artists, Makers & Designers
More than a boutique, Windmill City Super #1 acts as a community platform for local artists, makers, designers, and small-batch creators. The store’s business model follows a three-part philosophy:
In-House Designs
The Coys develop a full line of Palm Springs–inspired apparel and accessories, designed and produced through their print shop. These include:
- T-shirts and sweatshirts
- Hats and beanies
- Tote bags
- Stickers and magnets
- Posters and prints
Their iconic Windmill City logo, a playful palm-tree-meets-windmill mashup, quickly became a recognizable symbol worn by locals and visitors.
Collaborations With Local Artists
Windmill City partners with emerging and established Palm Springs artists to release limited-edition pieces. Every item is labeled with the artist’s name, and creators receive revenue from each sale, helping sustain the city’s vibrant creative community.
Curated Local Goods
From small-batch coffee beans to hand-thrown pottery, the shop highlights local makers whose products represent the texture and personality of the Coachella Valley.
This balanced blend gives the boutique its unique atmosphere: equal parts retail store, gallery space, and creative incubator.
