Aspen Mills Bakery & Bread Co.

A local mainstay for breads and treats, the bakery offers daily breads including 9-grain, sourdough, cranberry spice, jalapeño cheddar, cinnamon swirl, and two types of rye. Additional breads are available on different days.

Bread & Flours

One of the best bakeries in North Palm Springs is open only Thursday through Saturday. Their signature bread is their sourdough. This is a small, locally owned bakery, and while they have limited hours, they work on bread all week. They craft only additive-free, preservative-free selections. The flour is stone-milled, and all parts of the seed are used in the loaves. Each loaf takes 36 hours to craft before baking.

Carousel Bakery

This is family-owned and located very close to the Palm Springs International Airport. Carousel Bakery is run by the husband-and-wife team of Alberto and Elizabeth, who have been baking for over 35 years now. It's a small bakery, great for morning baked goods and pastries. A great stop before your flight. Pies are made seasonally.

What to try:

Over The Rainbow Desserts

This is a trendy Palm Springs bakery for cupcakes and cakes. The menu changes frequently, and there are extensive selections. Master Menu.

Peninsula Pastries Palm Springs

Peninsula Patisseries handcrafts their breads and pastries using authentic French products, including imported French flour and butter. Owners Helene & Christophe Meyer are from France and opened this Palm Springs bakery in 2015; Christophe is a maître pâtissier (a pastry genius).

  • Classic French pastries: croissants, sticky buns, butterscotch pecan twists

Townie Bagels Bakery

This fantastic bagel store is locally owned by Andy Wysocki and his husband, Bill Sanderson. They serve authentic, traditional water-boiled bagels in the flavors of a New York bagel bakery. This gives them that crispy, crackling exterior and a soft center. In addition to bagels, the bakery offers a variety of breads, including French baguettes, sourdough, and rye, among others. Menu

Billy Reed's is an old-school restaurant (opened in 1975) serving generous portions of American fare in an antique décor. They make all their pastries, breads, cakes, and pies in their little bake shop. The fruit pies are seasonal.

The Jelly Donut

The Jelly Donut is in an interesting location right next to the Steel Gym. You can enjoy a donut and then work it off. It's locally owned and run by Nick and Lyna Fong.

Swiss Donuts is in the same complex as Aspen Mills Bread, which is also locally owned and run. In addition to a wide selection of donuts, they also have sandwiches and a drink menu. It's another hidden gem outside downtown and is worth a visit. The bacon maple bars are popular.
