Monkeypox Information

The Governor of California declared a State of Emergency to support the state’s response to monkeypox. This clears to way for a coordination of the whole-of-government response to monkeypox.  Additional efforts include seeking more vaccines and distribution, expanding outreach, and improving communication efforts on accessing vaccines and treatment.

So far there are only a handful of cases of monkeypox in the Coachella Valley. However, due to unique risk factors related to the disproportionate impact the virus has on LGBTQ populations, the City is doing everything it can to urge the California Department of Public Health to prioritize the distribution of the vaccine to Palm Springs.
