The Cole Hotel, a 30-room boutique establishment, has recently opened to guests and will officially celebrate its grand unveiling on March 13th. Previously known as the Bahama Hotel, this midcentury icon has undergone extensive and careful restoration under the guidance of owner Mark Weis, General Manager David Smith, and Project Manager Mat Rogers. Built in 1959, the hotel’s design pays homage to its architectural heritage, featuring contributions from draftsman Raymond Devore, mason John Francis Gallerani, and local architect Hugh Kaptur. The renovation emphasizes the property’s modernist roots and midcentury character, bringing a touch of Palm Springs’ architectural history back to life.
This dog-friendly, adults-only hotel offers five distinctive floor plans with contemporary comforts, making it a stylish yet cozy destination. Guests can expect a range of premium amenities, including:
Nespresso machines for a luxurious start to the day
Midcentury-inspired mahogany Victrola Bluetooth stereos for a touch of vintage charm
Retro bar fridges and nightstand charging ports for convenience
4K Smart TVs for entertainment and connectivity
Stearns & Foster Airedale mattresses for an exceptional night’s sleep
The rooms, designed by local firm H3K, capture the essence of Palm Springs with vibrant decor and striking details. Each room offers views of either the iconic Palm Springs Aerial Tramway with the stunning Mt. San Jacinto as a backdrop or the newly revamped courtyard pool, which reflects the hotel’s unique shape.
Among the most notable accommodations, the Honeymoon Suite stands out with its spacious 600-square-foot layout, wraparound windows, and private balcony with panoramic views stretching to Joshua Tree. The suite also features a luxurious primary bathroom with a soaking tub and dual shower, perfect for a romantic getaway.
