L’Horizon Palm Springs

One of the notable properties from Steve Hermann Hotels is L’Horizon. Originally built in 1952, the property was designed by renowned architect William F. Cody as a private residence for oil tycoon Jack Wrather and his wife, actress Bonita Granville. Wrather, known for his involvement in the television series “The Lone Ranger” and “Lassie,” envisioned a luxurious hideaway in the desert.

Over the years, the hotel changed ownership multiple times and underwent several renovations, each maintaining its midcentury modern aesthetic while adding modern amenities.

In 2015 it became a Steve Hermann Hotel and L’Horizon Palm Springs was completely redesigned and reopened as a luxury boutique hotel. It captures the essence of its original design while infusing it with contemporary touches. It is designed as a 25-bedroom house with no two rooms are the same.

Several of the rooms have fireplaces and all with richly grained, custom-milled tongue-and-groove pine ceilings. To complement, all bungalows have lye-treated wood floors. There are sweeping walls of glass shielded by motorized curtains. Classic vintage chairs, such as a Percival Lafer or a George Mulhauser, sit against new pieces. There are hand-sewn hide-on-hair rugs and lighting by the likes of Brendan Ravenhill. Enjoy original artwork throughout the property.

This stunning boutique hotel highlights modernist architecture and features spacious bungalows and suites that exude a sense of understated luxury. The Colony Palms Hotel and Bungalows

 The Colony Palms Hotel has a rich and fascinating history that dates back to the early 1930s. Originally known as the Colonial House, it was built by renowned mobster Al Wertheimer as a luxury desert hideaway for his gangster friends.

In the late 1990s, the property was purchased by a new owner who recognized its historical significance and embarked on an extensive renovation project. The hotel was restored to its former glory and rebranded as the Colony Palms Hotel, reclaiming its original name.

Steve has followed up his success by adding The Colony Palms Hotel to the Steve Hermann Hotels portfolio, which he has transformed into another spectacular luxury resort.

The whole area is large and rectangular with a large 1-inch wading pool in the center, it’s not for swimming rather for relaxing in one of the lounge chairs in the pool. Bungalows surround the pool in a semi-circular manner, with the outdoor bar set at one end of the pool. Small rocks and cacti make up the landscape in front of each bungalow.

As you step foot into these exquisite retreats, you’ll be greeted by a seamless integration of indoor and outdoor living spaces. Expansive glass walls allow for an uninterrupted connection with the stunning surroundings, blurring the boundaries between the interior and the serene desert landscape.

The One Bedroom Fireplace Suite Bungalow screams midcentury modern as soon as you walk in the 2,000 square foot space. The entryway includes an outdoor white lawn three-seater sofa. As you step onto the Italian Venetian terrazzo floors, you notice the walnut paneled walls and marble fireplace. It’s spacious and the three large picture windows with operated drapes gives way to the large private outdoor patio and hot tub.
