Painting alla prima, or at first, is what thrills Kathleen the most about painting. The idea is to capture the essence of a scene on location in one quick and energetic session when possible. However, she often takes those on-location smaller paintings and develops them into larger ones in her studio.
Her love for painting landscapes began as a young girl growing up in New Mexico. Like many artists, she was moved by the spectacular vistas and colors you see in nature daily when you live in the high desert areas of this state. Her paintings have been described as evoking a feeling of loneliness embraced by mysterious beauty.
Ernesto was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. When he was 5 years old, his parents moved to Mazatlán. Growing up on the Pacific Coast, he fell in love with the ocean but always had the desire to go back to Guanajuato to pursue his dream of becoming an Architect. He had a passion for arts, building, design, and creativity. At 18, he moved to Guanajuato and began his college degree in Architecture at the University of Guanajuato. During college, he rediscovered his passion for painting. Ernesto is uncommitted to any particular medium. He has been working on oil, wax, and acrylic paint paintings. He inspired the new series called La Lucha Libre by using acrylic and oil paint with wax and pastels on canvas. This is a good representation of his style at Kee Gallery………COLORFUL!!
