It was originally opened in 1948 as Los Dolores. The hotel quickly became a beloved retreat, embodying the charm and spirit of Palm Springs during Hollywood’s golden age.
Actor Stubby Kay purchased the property in 1977. Kaye was best known a Nicely-Nicely Johson in Gusy and Dolls and Marryin’ Sam in Li’l Abner. He later played Marvin Acme in Who Framed Roger Rabit. During his career he appeared on the television shows The Red Skelton Hour, The Millionaire, Burke’s Law, The Monkees, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Adam-12 and Love, American Style.
The passage of time brought challenges, and the hotel eventually closed its doors during the 2020 pandemic.
Three Palm Springs locals saw an opportunity. United by their love for the city and its unique history, these friends decided to breathe new life into the property. They restored the original architecture, preserving its historical essence while infusing it with modern amenities and stylish updates.
