Artist Mike Arnone, owner of Big Mike, found solace as a gay kid in sketching, drawing cars, and painting. During this time, his fascination with midcentury style, complex geometric concepts, and abstract, cubist, and impressionist artists began to take root.
His dreams were big, and he aspired to become either an artist or a famous auto designer. Mike earned both Fine Arts and Graphic Communications degrees from Cal State University Fullerton.
Artist Mike Arnone lived communally in Venice Beach for two decades alongside other fellow artists and closest friends. It was a transformative period where he found solace and healing through meditation, surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of glorious pink-orange sunrises and sunsets.
Fate brought Mike together with his partner, Dana, and they decided to embark on a new chapter of their lives in Palm Springs. The eccentric history, breathtaking architecture, and captivating natural beauty of the desert immediately ignited his creative inspiration. It became the backdrop for his abstract painting series. Through a torrent of smudges, swirls, whips, and hatches, he reimagines the midcentury vibe, infusing it with sacred geometric worlds.
