The Desert Star by Architect Howard Lapham was originally built as a motor lodge in 1956. Fully restored and historically designated, The Desert Star is now 6 rentable vacation studios owned by a small group of people who love the Palm Spring lifestyle and all it offers. The Desert Star is near the Ace Hotel and has various great walking distance dining and cocktail options. You’ll find the local hikes a terrific pool time primer. The Desert Star is an early and important work of Lapham’s, a pure modernist design featuring a “colliding flat and shed roof” and is still remarkably intact.
Each bungalow is spacious 600 square feet and has a living room and fully equipped kitchen.
The property is nestled in a quiet neighborhood just minutes from the downtown village and is close to great restaurants.
You can read a good book by the heated saltwater pool, explore the desert on one of our cruiser bikes, or unwind on your own private patio.
The Desert Star is a Class 1 Historic Site as designated by the City of Palm Springs.
The studio apartments have a 3-night minimum.
