Villa Royale: Hidden Gem Thu, November 8, 2018 Stay Add to trip Remove from trip Share: Historic Palm Springs Villa Royale Masterly Renovated Built in 1947, Villa Royale emerged in Palm Springs during a period of Post-World War II development in Palm Springs. Adding a small pool of guestrooms to the south end of Palm Springs alongside the Deep Well Guest Ranch and Smoke Tree Ranch, Villa Royale was an early small hotel in south Palm Springs. Owned and managed by a woman by the name of Evelyn Pell, family lore has it that the California ranch-style hotel took its name from the first initials of Evelyn’s children – Valorie and Richard. You can stay at The Evelyn Pell Villa, a private residence with its own hot tub and garden. Rich Mahogany Finishes With 38 rooms total – each with a unique look and feel – guests can expect new mahogany woodwork, vintage mid-century furniture and original oil paintings. Plus, in-room cocktail parlors with liquor, mixers, cocktails books and tools. Designer Anne L’Esperance also sprinkled colorful, graphic tile from Portugal, Spain and Mexico throughout the property. Villa Royale is accommodating to pets, too. Amenities include in-room pet beds and plush dog toys, dog and cat food, custom-made dog tags and in-room VIP (Very Important Pet) door hangers. Electra bikes are complementary for guests to explore Palm Springs. The onsite restaurant, Del Rey, is open to the public for dinner. Chef Louis Martinez will focus on Spanish and Mediterranean flavors in small plates. The shared plates and the lounge atmosphere evoke conversation and sipping cocktails. In addition to boozy slushies, the wine program will include California wines and Spanish varietals.
