Fleur Noire Hôtel Blooms In Palm Springs Wed, November 17, 2021 Stay Add to trip Remove from trip Share: Fleur Noire Hôtel is the newest addition to the city’s unique resorts and small hotels. Build in the 1940’s, the historic property began as the Burket’s Trade Winds Hotel. It is now transformed into a modern mix of 21 casitas, studios and standard rooms among 10 cottages. It creates a space where guests can feel comfortable between the bar, the fire pits, and the games. There are multiple outdoor living spaces, the pool area, and the cabanas. Fleur Noire Exterior The re-imaged hotel grounds include native desert plantings to create a beautiful contrast between the lushly painted buildings and the contemporary landscape design. The hotel’s original swimming pool remains its centerpiece. A new common area lined by trees of the southwest desert region creates a perfectly shaded setting for an afternoon cocktail…or a wedding! The resort’s exterior walls are a canvas for hand-painted floral murals by renowned artist Ouize (Louise Jones née Chen). Best known for her large-scale floral mural installations, they are on display in public parks, museums, and other public spaces throughout the U.S. The murals often depict local plants and animals with techniques informed by her education in drawing and printmaking. Her affinity toward botanical subjects continues to grow, stemming from an early introduction to Georgia O’Keeffe and fond memories of picking figs with her grandmother. Fleur Noire Interiors Each casita retains some elements of its original design in addition to updated dining areas in most suites, along with saltillo tile floors, sage-colored wainscoting and cabinetry, and a hand-picked collection of mid-century modern-inspired furnishings. Wallpaper Artist, Ellie Cashman Artist Ellie Cashman creates original works of art for wallpaper, wall décor and home textiles. The still life painters of the Dutch Golden Age influence her. To create my large-scale prints, she alternated between traditional and digital art media. From start-to- finish, a design takes six months to a year. The floral wallpapers celebrate nature in the peak of its glory. Interior Designer, Chris Pardo Chris Pardo’s work focuses on architecture, hospitality design and development. Co-founding ARRIVE Hotels in 2009, he introduced a neighborhood centric aesthetic, offering guests an authentic representation of place while creating an almost theatrical backdrop to their daily activities. Palm Springs hospitality design projects include Arrive Palm Springs, Kimpton Palm Springs (public spaces interiors), Ernest Coffee, Bootlegger Tiki, Starbucks Reserve, H&M, Tommy Bahamas, Free People, Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey, and Il Corso restaurant. La Boisson A speakeasy champagne and rosé bar named La Boisson will open in January featuring dozens of varieties for rosés as well as curated selections of wines, beers and liquor.
