In Section 14 of Palm Springs, California, a little-known tragedy took place during the 1950s and ‘60s, where hundreds of Black and Mexican families were forcibly removed from their homes. This is a story of systemic racism, housing discrimination, and the fight for justice that continues to this day.
This weekend, in celebration alongside Black History Month we recognize the survivors & descendants of Section 14 through a series of events including live testimonials & remarks from our guest speakers, a community parade & fair, followed by a powerful Interfaith Sunday Service.
This Sunday, history will be made as we celebrate the first ever Interfaith Service to commence during Black History Month.
We are encouraging and welcoming community members from near and far to come out and take participation in this monumental weekend.
All events take place at United Methodist Church of Palm Springs.
