On his deathbed, Franz Kafka instructs his best friend Max Brod to burn his unpublished manuscripts. Brod does not destroy his work, believing Kafka is a literary genius. This leads to Kafkas writings rising to literary prominence decades after his death. Brod then escapes from Nazi Europe with Kafkas works in 1939, bringing them to Palestine.
