The Saguaro celebrates Palm Springs Pride Weekend with art installations by nationally-recognized contemporary artists Michael James Schneider and Justin DeCou. Beginning on Friday, November 4, through Sunday, November 6, Schneider will create a daily message with his renowned temporary balloon and flower art within the Saguaro’s courtyard and Colorado-based DeCou will paint a permanent mural on one of the hotel’s colorful walls. The public is invited to view all of the artwork and to meet the artists over the weekend.
Known for its 14 colors inspired by desert wildflowers, the Saguaro has welcomed artists, musicians, culinarians, brewers, distillers and a diverse group of creatives over the past decade. Among the artwork and design on display at the hotel include: custom furnishings in the hotel lobby by Amigo Modern, a famous display of Barbies in several dioramas by local artist Sarah Scheidemann, and several murals including a poolside mural by Pasadena-based Mokuyobi, a mural in the hotel gym by French artist and designer Lucas Beaufort, and its most recent addition, The Desert Luchadores, a mural by Yusufu Bwire and Family in El Jefe Desert Cantina which represents a larger celebration of Mexico’s vibrant cuisine, cocktails, and culture.
