Mid-Century Architecture
Clean lines, simple design, soaring roofs, and integrated space bringing the outdoors in...this describes the work of the visionary architects and developers who lived and worked in Palm Springs. Names like Alexander, Cody, Frey, Krisel, Lautner, Neutra, Palmer, Wexler, Williams and Kaptur are synonymous with the style known as Mid-Century Modernism. Their iconic designs are celebrated at the Tramway Gas Station (now the Palm Springs Visitor's Center), the Aerial Tramway station, the classic City Hall, and one of the largest collections of Mid-Century boutique hotels and private homes. Come visit in February during Modernism Week and become your own student of Mid-Century Modern design.

On Thursdays, stroll the vibrant pedestrian street fair known as Villagefest...or plan a night tour under the full moon at the top of the Tram...

Lifestyle, Fun, and Arts
Palm Canyon Drive and its surrounding streets are tucked-full of boutiques that are yours for discovery...book signings and readings, upscale thrift shops, Mid-Century Modern furnishings, distinctive designer clothing, handmade dolls, music boxes and clocks, crystal fantasies, children's unique games and toys.  Find that classic Eames chair or that original retro piece in the dozens of retro boutiques and thrift shops. The art galleries are a destination in themselves, as there are almost thirty along Palm Canyon Drive, and a dozen more throughout Palm Springs, along with a monthly Art in the Park. Stop and dine al fresco between boutiques, or tuck into a mountainside cafe table to celebrate your eclectic finds.

Nestled against the mountain is the Palm Springs Art Museum, showcasing contemporary Californian, Western American, and Native American art, as well as glass studio art, Mid-Century Modern architecture, and American photography. Then it's a step back in time at the Palm Springs Air Museum, an inspiring and expansive collection of World War II aircraft, photographs, and memorabilia.

The painted sky above the mountains is an invitation to explore another face of Palm Springs...the stage and musical performances at the Annenberg Theater...the season of productions at Palm Canyon Theater...the senior long-legged lovelies of the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies. Soak in the magical starry nights and the full moons on the mountains with movies in the park, Jazz Under the Stars, or dinner and a romantic trek at the top of the tram...or spend the evening in the village, having dinner under the olive trees in a beautiful outdoor courtyard.
